Chocolate-Peanutbutter Mousse, already reading the title makes me wanna prepare one right away. This is a real discovery. It’s incredible and so easy to make and has an ingredient you would never think of when thinking of desserts or sweet things. And it’s tofu! Not the firm tofu, but the “silken” tofu which has a much smoother texture and can be used perfectly for desserts, smoothies or cheesecake. So no worries about the calories of a traditional mousse with its full fat cream. The one right here we can actually call healthy. And the best thing: it has only 4 ingredients.
A very speedy dessert
Whenever I find silken tofu in my local organic store I buy a pack (or two) and keep it in the fridge. I then either make some pasta carbonara with it. Ooooorrr….. if we’re fancy a super nice chocolaty smooth mousse for dessert, this thing is made literally in 15 minutes. Clean up included!
All you need is a blender, the silken tofu and the rest of the ingredients you probably already have in your fridge or cupboard. And if not, you should, because these ingredients will be used again and again: Cacao powder, maple syrup and nut butter. In this recipe we use peanut butter for the mousse, but you can perfectly use almond butter as well. Or even hazelnut butter and then you get kind of a nutella mousse. I just came up with that… that sounds actually pretty good, I will definitively try this out next time.
A winner for the whole family
I made this dessert many times and it is an absolute winner, also for non-vegan people. And I can also guarantee that your kids will love it. It happened to me many times when I had friends with non-vegan kids invited for lunch that the kids were kind of picky with the vegan food. Because there are so many new flavours and textures in it. But when it came to the dessert: They wanted to have more and more of this chocolate peanutbutter mousse and were absolutely in love with it.
This is a perfect dessert if you have a lot of friends invited. Make some Tempeh Veggie Burgers with the spicy oven-baked potato wedges. And then this for dessert and everybody will be more than happy, I guarantee!
